The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) is just two weeks away from opening their 2022-23 season. Washington Capitals prospect Bogdan Trineyev has been working out with Moscow Dynamo’s top team since late July and playing in each of the team’s preseason games.

Trineyev scored his first goal of the preseason on Wednesday in a tuneup against Vityaz. He collected a rebound on shot from the left point and redirected to the back of the net.

Trineyev began the preseason at left wing on the fourth line, but has been moving his way up the lineup throughout the preseason. Last week he was on the third line and today he was moved up to left wing on the second line. Dynamo won the tilt, 2-0.

Trineyev is a 6’-2”, 190lb winger drafted by the Capitals in the 4th round (#117 overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

The 2020-21 season saw Trineyev play at all three levels of the KHL system, including three games with the parent club, Dynamo Moscow. Trineyev spent a majority of his season with Dynamo Moskva of the MHL, where he had 15 goals and 15 assists in 33 games played.

The 2021-22 season saw more of the same for Trineyev. He started the season on the injury list with a damaged wrist he sustained in pre-season action. In the end, he finished the season playing 11 games with the parent KHL team, but recorded no points. He played 21 games with the junior team, scoring three goals and recording 15 assists.

On May 2 Trineyev signed his first NHL contract with the Capitals and the following day signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Hershey Bears. Trineyev then made his way from Russia to Hershey in time for a few practices and made his AHL debut in the Bears must-win Game 2 of their first round series with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He would play in two postseason games with the Bears.

In other Moscow Dynamo news, the team announced today that Capitals captain and Moscow Dynamo board member Alex Ovechkin will participate in the team’s fan event on August 21.

Trineyev and Moscow Dynamo begin their 2022-23 season on September 3.
