We are now less than three weeks away from the start of the Washington Capitals training camp set for September 22. However, training camps for most of the Capitals prospects are already underway. Here’s the latest prospect news for the week ending September 3.
Capitals forward prospect Bogdan Trineyev was officially named to Dynamo Moscow’s opening day roster earlier this week. He and Dynamo opened their 2022-23 season on Saturday (9/3).
Capitals prospect Haakon Hanelt will reportedly miss the first week of QMJHL season in order to attend Capitals camp. The Capitals have yet to release the official rosters for Rookie Camp, running from September 15-19, and training camp, which begins on September 22.
Alexander Suzdalev and the Regina Pats opened training camp on Wednesday. Suzdalev met the media following camp workouts on Friday.

Suzdalev is reunited with former teammate and projected number one draft pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, Connor Bedard. Bedard spoke about being teammates once again with Suzdalev.
“I’m pumped. For the last year, I was texting him here and there trying to convince him to come,” Bedard told the Regina Pats website. “He was really pumped when he signed, which is a good sign. I played with him in Sweden (HV71 J18 and J20) and we were pretty close. He’s such a good guy and a really good player. I can’t wait to see him in Regina. It’s a huge pickup for us.” More here.
Capitals 2022 draft pick Ryan Hofer and the Everett Silvertips also opened training camp this week. They held their first scrimmage on Thursday where Hofer scored his first goal of the preseason.

Dru Krebs and the Medicine Hat Tigers also opened camp this week. The returning Tigers defenseman is using last season[s disappointment as motivation to get the team back to its competitive nature.
“I think it’s coming in with an open mind, and then also a bit of hunger into the season, trying to prove people wrong and being the player that I know I am and the team that we know we are.” Krebs says.
Jake Karabela, drafted by the Capitals in the 5th round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, opened training camp with the Guelph Storm on Friday. Karwbela started the camp’s first scrimmage at left wing on the top line.
Aliaksei Protas departed Belarus on Thursday and is expected to join the voluntary skates at MedStar Capitals Iceplex in the next few days.
