Men’s Hockey Drops Exhibition Game to Toronto

TROY, N.Y. – Connor Matton scored with just over six minutes left in the third period to break a tie Rayce Ramsay made 39 saves to lead the The University of Toronto held off Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) 2-1 in a men’s hockey exhibition game at the Houston Field House. 

The visitors held a 1-0 lead with a first period marker from Ben Woodhouse but the Engineers tied the score at the 6:00 mark when freshman Sutter Muzzatti broke in alone and got the goaltender out of position before sliding the puck into the net. Jack Agnew started the play at RPI’s own blue line and got the puck to Jack Brackett, who found Muzzatti skating up the middle of the ice.

RPI got 14 saves from Brett Miller (30:04) and seven from Carson Cherepak (28:37), while Rayce Ramsay made 11 saves in the first period, 19 in the second and nine in the third.

Rensselaer begins the regular season with a home series against Mercyhurst University on Friday and Saturday nights (7pm).
