Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie (upper body) did not participate in the team’s practice on Thursday. Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov (lower body) also missed practice. Both players are listed “day-to-day”.

Oshie left last night’s game against the Red Wings with 5:32 left in the second period, after taking a hit along the sideboards from Detroit’s Joseph Veleno.

The Capitals announced that the 35-year old would not return to the game and will be re-evaluated tomorrow.

Oshie played in just 44 games (11g, 14a) last season after dealing with more than one injury. Oshie also had a procedure done during the off-season.

“It was just a core procedure that needed to get done. Happened at the end of March. Something that I played through. Got it done, I think, two or three weeks after the season ended. We’re almost kinda back to full. Didn’t do the skate test today, just didn’t want to get too sore for the practices, playing the real hockey.”

The Capitals wrap their preseason schedule on Saturday night when they host the Blue Jackets at Capital One Arena.
