Rashaad Penny Out for Year with Fractured Fibula

NFL Week 5 – The Seattle Seahawks have lost running back Rashaad Penny for the year to a fractured fibula, according to Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll. Carroll made an appearance on 710 AM Seattle Sports radio Monday morning, discussing the extent of the injury after Penny was carted off the field midway through the third quarter of Sunday’s game.

“It’s really just a heartbreaking loss for him,” said Carroll, per ESPN’s Brady Henderson.

Penny was one week removed from his best rushing performance of the season–a 151-yard, two-touchdown performance against the Detroit Lions. The Seattle Seahawks running back ranked 14th in DVOA (6.9%) and 17th in DYAR (36) through five weeks. Penny is set to be replaced by rookie running back Kenneth Walker III, who has posted a 1.2% DVOA on 23 rushing attempts thus far in 2022.
