Central golfer wins top LHAC honor | News, Sports, Jobs

CRESSON — Central’s Nick Baum fired a boys medalist score of 75 in the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference Golf Championships at Summit Country Club on Wednesday.

Baum edged out Bishop Guilfoyle’s Nick Helsley, who shot a 76. Central’s Griffin Snowberger finished fourth with a 78 in a field of 45 boys golfers.

Westmont Hilltop’s Nora Mullen won the girls event with a 96, but Penn Cambria’s Alyssa Mostick (97), Bella Spahr (100) and Kaylee Mento (106) finished second, third and fifth, respectively. Central Cambria’s Olivia Griffith was fourth with a 105.

Myers hired

Cory Myers, an Ebensburg native who previously coached Penn State’s club ice hockey team, has been hired at Hempfield Area as the boys hockey coach.

Myers, 30, played collegiately at IUP.
