Vegas Vanquishes Capitals, 3-2 (OT); Strome Tallies Two Helpers

The Washington Capitals fell to the Vegas Golden Knights by a score of 3-2 in overtime at Capital One Arena on Tuesday night. The loss dropped Washington’s record to 5-4-2. Goaltender Charlie Lindgren made 27 saves in the loss.

3:39, 1-0 Washington (PPG): Johansson one-timed a shot that ramped up off of Martinez’s stick over the the blocker of Thompson in front from the slot after Strome fed him from down low. Four (three assists) of Johansson’s six points this season have come on the man advantage. Strome earned his team-leading fifth power-play point (fourth assist) of the season. With the secondary assist, Ovechkin extended his point streak to three games (two goals, three points).

18:55, 1-1 (Vegas PPG): With Orlov in front of the shot lane in the right dot, Eichel hesitated and ripped one past the blocker of Lindgren after getting a feed from up top by Stephenson.

Malenstyn suffered an upper-body injury after blocking a shot from Hague and would not return.

Other notable stats: Washington led 17-10 in hits while both teams posted two takeaways and eight blocked shots. Each team also scored on their lone power play.

Other notable stats: Vegas led 23-20 in hits and 18-17 in blocked shots. Each team was credited with six takeaways.

2-2, 14:04: After Karlsson fed him from the half-wall, Carrier got the puck in the left dot, stepped in, and ripped a wrist shot off of the right post and in.
