SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Crimson picked up more ECAC conference points after battling to a tie with the Union Dutchwomen tonight. Harvard women’s hockey (1-3-1, 1-3-1 ECAC) and Union (3-5-1, 0-2-1 ECAC) finished in a 2-2 tie after a hard-fought hockey game at the Messa Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Dutchwomen came out of the gates fast, taking control in the opening minutes of the first period. Alex Pellicci made four saves in the first ten minutes, anchoring the defensive effort.
  • Gabi Davidson Adams struck first, giving the Crimson the lead with a goal at 13:05 in the period. Davidson Adams caught Union in the midst of a change and took full advantage, stealing the puck and splitting the defense before sending a shot over the blocker side of the Union goaltender.
  • The Crimson held the lead after 20 minutes thanks to Davidson Adams and a defensive effort led by Alex Pellicci, who made nine saves in the period.
  • Harvard battled through a back-and-forth effort in the first half of the second period, keeping the lead and outshooting the Dutchwomen 8-7 in the second period.
  • One of the those shots would end up being a short-handed goal for senior captain, Anne Bloomer. On the penalty kill, Jade Arnone shoved a pass up the boards that was picked up by Bloomer. The forward then skated past her defender and beat the goalie to put Harvard up two.
  • Union fought back with its first goal just under two minutes after the Bloomer goal and the period would end with the score at 2-1 in favor of Harvard.
  • The Dutchwomen struck again at the start of the third period to tie the game at two.
  • The Crimson created several quality scoring chances, but were unable to find the go-ahead goal and the game would go into overtime.
  • Kristin Della Rovere had the best Crimson look in overtime, hitting the pipe on a backhand shot
