Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen – Elbow

NFL Week 9 – According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Buffao Bills quarterback Josh Allen is expected to be limited this week during practice because of an elbow injury he suffered late during Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets. Per Rapoport, the injury is considered a situation to monitor more than a real injury, but Allen is undergoing tests to ensure this.

New York Jets defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins – Dislocated Elbow

New York Jets defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins could miss four to six weeks with a dislocated elbow, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini. Rankins exited the game against the Buffalo Bills sometime during the first half. Because the Jets have a bye in Week 10, it is possible Rankins misses just three games.

New York Giants safety Xavier McKinney – Hand

New York Giants safety Xavier McKinney announced via his own Twitter that he got into an ATV accident during the team’s bye week and injured his hand. In McKinney’s words, “The injury will keep me sidelined for a few weeks.”

While we do not know the current extent of the injury, our current data states that more than 75% of defensive backs miss one week or less with a hand injury, with 75% of defensive-back hand injuries leaving the injury report after four weeks. Hand fractures, however, are a different story. Across all positions, just over 50% of players return from a hand fracture after four weeks.

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones – Ankle

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones underwent an X-ray on his ankle on Monday, which returned negative results. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jones “should be able to play this week.” Our injuries note that ankle injuries–especially in running backs–tend to linger. While 75% of running backs with ankle sprains return to play within two weeks, 75% of running backs with ankle injuries remain on the injury report for five weeks.

Green Bay Packers linebacker Rashan Gary – ACL [Season]

Green Bay Packers linebacker Rashan Gary was diagnosed with a torn ACL after exiting Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Concussions

The following players left their respective games with concussion symptoms and enter the league protocol:

 • Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph
 • Jacksonville Jaguars safety Rayshawn Jenkins

Based on our current data, more than half of players miss at least one game once diagnosed with a concussion. However, just under 75% of players return from concussion protocol after one week.
