Box Score DURHAM, N.H. – Junior forward Sean Farrell had a goal and two assists, senior defenseman Henry Thrun added a goal and an assist, and senior goaltender Mitchell Gibson made 27 saves to lift No. 10/11 Harvard men’s ice hockey (7-0-0) to a 3-1 win at New Hampshire (3-9-1) on Tuesday night (Nov. 15) at Whittemore Center.

Harvard has won its first seven games to start the year for the first time since the 1988-89 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Harvard had two shorthanded odd-man rushes on UNH’s first power play beginning at 8:24 of the opening period, including a 2-on-1 chance for Farrell and a breakaway for Matthew Coronato. Both were turned away by UNH goaltender Tyler Muszelik (20 saves).

But Coronato would convert later in the period on a great setup by Farrell, who found him in the high slot for a quick wrist shot over the glove at 13:23 to make it 1-0 Harvard.

The Crimson played a good amount of the second period in its own zone due to three Harvard penalties. But Harvard successfully killed off all three UNH power play chances.

Late in the period, Harvard used its own power play to take a two-goal lead into the break. After a 5-on-3 power play expired, Harvard scored on the ensuing 5-on-4 on a play that started with a good keep-in at the point by Ryan Siedem.

Senior defenseman Henry Thrun found Farrell at the right circle, and the sophomore dragged the puck away from a UNH defender then fired a wrist shot into the top corner at 18:53 to make it 2-0.

Harvard potted another power play goal early in the third period to take a three goal lead, as first-year defenseman Ryan Healey’s point shot was deflected by Thrun past Muszelik at 7:44 to put the Crimson up by three.

UNH added a goal at 15:50 of the third period, but would get no closer, as Gibson’s season high 27 saves helped the Crimson continue its winning ways.
