NFL Week 16 – Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is currently in concussion protocol, according to ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques. If Tagovailoa does not clear protocol, backup Teddy Bridgewater will take most of the starting reps on Wednesday.

Tagovailoa took a hit in the second quarter of the Dolphins’ game against the Green Bay Packers where his head bounced off the turf. He did not miss any time and played the entirety of the second half without evaluation. Tagovailoa finished the game 16-for-25 for 310 yards with one passing touchdown and three interceptions.

This is Tagovailoa’s third time in concussion protocol in three months. Tagovailoa’s head health was a national storyline earlier in the season after he exhibited a fencing response following a hit against the Cincinnati Bengals, his second concussion of the season. Tagovailoa sat out for two games before returning to play in Week 7.

The Dolphins are 0-2 in games not started by Tagovailoa, posting a -1.8% passing DVOA over those game.
