No. 13 women’s hockey gives No. 6 Colby its first loss in 1-0 game

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College’s Nancy Loh ’23 scored early in the second period and Evie Sheridan ’26 made 27 saves in the Continentals’ 1-0 NESCAC win against the Colby College Mules at Hamilton’s Russell Sage Rink on Friday night.
 
Season Update
The nationally ranked No. 13 Continentals won their sixth straight and improved to 8-2-0 overall and 4-1 in the conference. Hamilton handed No. 6 Colby (8-1-0, 2-1) its first loss this season.
 
How It Happened

  • After a scoreless first period, the Continentals tallied the lone goal at 3:58 of the second.
  • Abby Kuhns ’23 secured the puck at center ice and passed to Bobbi Roca ’24, who rushed into the offensive zone along the left-side boards. Roca passed to Loh and she skated towards the net. Loh flicked a shot past the goaltender from the left side of the net a few feet outside the crease.
  • The Mules pulled their goaltender in favor of an extra skater with 1:14 left in the third period, but managed just one shot on goal in the final seconds.

 
Notes

  • Sheridan posted her third shutout and turned away 14 shots in the third period alone.
  • Loh has 40 goals and 75 points in her Hamilton career.
  • Roca, who picked up her fifth assist this season, won half of her 14 faceoffs.
  • Kuhns registered her 25th career assist for the Continentals.
  • Mandy Busky stopped 26 shots for Colby.
  • Each team had one power play in the first period.
