Arizona Cardinals Fire Kliff Kingsbury

NFL Week 18 – The Arizona Cardinals have fired head coach Kliff Kingsbury, according to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The Arizona Cardinals signed Kingsbury in 2019, finishing 28-37-1 over four seasons and making the playoffs once during his tenure. This season’s Cardinals finished with their worst record since 2018, posting their worst offensive DVOA since Kingsbury took over the coaching position.

The firing comes just under a year removed from Kingsbury signing a six-year contract extension in March 2022, which tied him to the team through the 2027 season. The extension coincided with a similar deal signed by general manager Steve Wilks, who was also recently dismissed.

Kingsbury was brought in alongside quarterback Kyler Murray, who the Cardinals drafted first overall in 2019. Prior to tearing his ACL in Week 14, Murray was on pace to post a career-low -6.6% passing DVOA.
