The Hershey Bears downed the Toronto Marlies, 4-3 Friday night at the Giant Center in Hershey, PA. Mason Morelli scored twice, Mike Sgarbossa and Mike Vecchione each added tallies and Zach Fucale stopped 22 of 25 shots faced in the victory. The win improves the Bears record to 34-13-5-2 (75 points) on the season.
LINEUP
Zach Fucale (17-9-2-1, 2.60 GAA, .898 sv%) got the start between the pipes for the Bears. Keith Petruzzelli (12-6-0-0, 2.82 GAA, .909 sv%) got the start in goal for the visiting Marlies. The forward lines and defensive pairs for the Bears:

Recalls/Reassignments: The Capitals recalled defensemen Vinny Iorio and Gabriel Carlson on Friday. They also returned defenseman Dylan McIlrath to the Bears on Friday.
The Bears recalled Benton Maass on Thursday and Michael Kim on Friday from ECHL South Carolina.
FIRST PERIOD
The Bears went to the power play less than two minutes into the contest, but were unable to mount any significant press on the man advantage.
The Marlies, who have the league’s best power play, went to the man advantage with about five minutes remaining in the period, but the Bears penalty kill was up to the task.

The Bears returned to the power play just five seconds after the conclusion of the Marlies first power play. They were able to generate better pressure and shots on goal, but once again, were unable to dent the twine.
The first period concluded without a tally. Hershey led in shots, 11-4 in the first period.
SECOND PERIOD
The Bears cracked the seal on the scoring early in the middle frame. Mason Morelli (10) collected a loose puck in front of the Marlies goal and backhanded home the game’s first tally at 2:20 of the second period. Logan Day (11) and Mike Vecchione (26) had the assists.

31 seconds later the Bears made it 2-0 when Mike Sgarbossa (19) skated in and sniped one by Keith Petruzzelli at 2:51. Aaron Ness (10) had the lone assist.

The Bears stretched their lead to 3-0 late in the middle frame. Joe Snively made a beautiful cross-ice feed to an open Mike Vecchione (19) at 12:32.

The second period concluded with the Bears leading 3-0. The Bears led in shots, 22-11. Both teams were 0 for 3 on the power play after 40 minutes of play.
THIRD PERIOD
The Marlies notched their first tally of the night following a Bears turnover in their own zone, early in the third period. Marc Johnstone (7) notched the Marlies’ first score at 4:28 of the final frame. The goal was unassisted.

The Bears reinstated their three-goal lead with a power play redirected tally by Mason Morelli (11) to make it 4-1. Connor McMichael (15) and Mike Sgarbossa (32) had the helpers.

But the Marlies quickly answered to make it 4-2. Pontus Holmberg (4) netted the Marlies second goal of the night at 14:41.

The Marlies added a late goal with 8 seconds remaining in the contest to make it 4-3, but that would be the final.
