New Contract Details For Eagles SS Terrell Edmunds

0

We’ve known for a few days that Terrell Edmunds was a Philadelphia Eagle. Now, we know what contract he received. And it wasn’t much money. According to KPRC’s Aaron Wilson, Edmunds’ deal is one-year worth $2 million at the base value. He received a $250k signing bonus as part of that deal. It appears as though he can earn more than $2 million via incentives and per-game roster bonuses.

Wilson lays out the full contract details below.

Edmunds announced his goodbye from the Steelers on Thursday. By Friday, the Eagles officially announced they were signing Edmunds.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ first round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Edmunds never quite lived up to that status but he was a steady, durable, and available player for the team. In all, he started 75 career games and got better each year, playing his best football in 2022. During his time with Pittsburgh, he missed only three games. As a Steeler, he recorded 410 tackles (15 for a loss) with five sacks and five interceptions. While a solid tackler, Edmunds was never a great playmaker and lacked the instincts to be effective in coverage.

Pittsburgh signed Edmunds to a cheap one-year deal last offseason but couldn’t come to terms this offseason. It’s not clear if the Steelers were willing to move on, if Edmunds was, or if there simply wasn’t much mutual interest between the two sides. Though structured differently than how the Steelers normally do their deals, filled with incentive and bonuses, this deal seems extremely reasonable for Edmunds and the Eagles, who will partially count on him to replace C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who left to take a one-year, $8 million deal with the Detroit Lions.

The Steelers have reportedly signed Damontae Kazee to a two-year deal worth $6 million last week though the deal has not officially been announced by the team. They are likely to add at least one more name to the safety room by the time the draft has wrapped up. Pittsburgh will have to replace two starters from their 2022 secondary, also losing CB Cam Sutton to the Lions early in free agency.
