Hendrix Lapierre Suspended One Game For Boarding Incident

0

The American Hockey League (AHL) announced Thursday afternoon that Hershey Bears center Hendrix Lapierre has been suspended for one (1) game as a consequence of a boarding incident in a game vs. Charlotte on Apr. 11. Lapierre will miss Hershey’s game Friday (Apr. 14) at Bridgeport.

The incident occurred midway through the third period of Tuesday night’s game against the Checkers. Lapierre, who sustained a big hit of his own moments earlier, skated cross ice and hit Checkers’ forward Logan Hutsko, causing him to crash into the boards.

Lapierre was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct. The Checkers would go on to score two goals on the ensuing five-minute power play, and win the game, 4-3.

It’s been an up and down week for Lapierre, somewhat typical for an AHL rookie. Prior to arguably costing his team the game on Tuesday night, Lapierre scored his first career professional hat trick on Saturday against the Checkers.

The Bears have two more games remaining in their regular season schedule – Friday against the Islanders in Bridgeport and Saturday at home against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The Bears have earned a bye in the first round of the postseason and will be idle next week.
