Washington Capitals first-round draft pick Ivan Miroshnichenko continues his triumphant return to the game of hockey, extending his scoring streak to five-consecutive games. On Wednesday afternoon, he scored two goals and also had a fight in Omsk Yastreb’s 3-2 victory over Kazan Urbis.

Miroshnichenko’s first goal came at 3:19 in the first period when he rocketed a hard shot passed the Kazan netminder. The goal put his team ahead, 1-0.

His second goal of the game came just over halfway through the second period, at 12:36, when the team was on the power play. Miroshnichenko was relatively close to the net, unlike many of his past snipes.

Near the end of the game with less than two minutes to go, at 18:19, Miroshnichenko dropped the gloves with Artem Svishchyov at the same time that another fight broke out. All combatants were assessed game misconduct penalties.

The fight provided a little more insight into the makeup and physical game of Miroshnichenko. Here is another view of the fight.

Miroshnichenko received the “Player of the Game” helmet for the second time since his return at the beginning of the month.

Tuesday’s game ended with Omsk Yastrb winning by an identical 3-2 score. In that game, Miroshnichenko scored just 23 seconds into the game with a very hard shot.

Since returning to action, Miroshnichenko has played in six games, scored six goals, and recorded two assists. He has averaged one goal per game, more than one point per game, and is currently on a five-game goal-scoring streak. He is probably close to elevating to a higher league.

The Capitals selected Miroshnichenko with the 20th overall selection in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft back on July 7th of this year.

2022 has been an extremely challenging year for the Capitals’ first-round draft pick Ivan Miroshnichenko. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma back in January but was cleared by doctors to return to skating and workouts after successfully completing a course of treatment in Germany in June.

Miroshnichenko has worked out with Avangard Omsk’s VHL (Junior) club since October 21 and was cleared to return to game action on November 6.
