The Washington Capitals fell to the Minnesota Wild, 5-3, Tuesday night at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. Anthony Mantha scored twice and T.J. Oshie added a third period power play tally in the loss. The defeat drops the Capitals record to 22-17-6 (50 points) on the season.
Darcy Kuemper (11-10-2, 3.13 GAA, .895 sv%) got the start between the pipes for the visiting Capitals. Filip Gustavsson (12-11-2, 3.30 GAA, .896 sv%) got the start in goal for the Wild. The forward lines and defensive pairs for the Capitals:

The Wild held the 2-0 lead into the first intermission. The Wild led in 5v5 shot attempts, 15-14 and xGF .95 to .33. The Wild did a good job of working the puck down low and led in 5v5 high-danger chances, 4-0.
2ND PERIOD
The Wild stretched their lead to 3-o on former Capital Marcus Johansson’s seventh goal of the season at 6:28.

The Capitals finally notched their first tally midway through the middle frame on a nice dish from Evgeny Kuznetsov (9) to Anthony Mantha for his 13th goal of the season at 10:00. Martin Fehervary (8) had the second assist. It was the 10th time Anthony Mantha scored the Capitals first goal in a game this season.
