That’s what happens when several teams are content to put glorified minor league players on the field this year for “rebuilding” instead of actually trying to field a competitive team.
Let’s take the Astros as an example. I cannot stand that franchise and it has absolutely nothing to do with trash cans. I couldn’t care less about that. But intentionally trading away every player that fans ever heard of so they could lose from 2011-2013 is unforgivable to me. Just because it worked for the Astros doesn’t mean it was the right thing to do. But I guess the integrity of the game no longer matters to some people.
The Orioles are exactly the same now. Even if they win 5 world Series titles in a row, it doesn’t excuse making fans pay to watch front offices not giving an effort for 5 years.
I say this as a Rockies fan watching them lose 100 games for the first time ever and then deciding that the team they had last year didn’t really need to improve over the offseason. Let’s run it back. Oh by the way, your bill from MLB.com is now $10 higher. Just because we don’t spend money, doesn’t mean you won’t spend money.
