Washington Capitals Shut Down Boston Bruins, 2-0, Two Points Away From Postseason Berth

The Washington Capitals beat the Boston Bruins by a score of 2-0 on Monday night in their final home game of the 2023-24 regular-season. The win lifted Washington, who could clinch the second-wild card spot in the Eastern Conference with a win at the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday, to 39-31-11 (.549 points percentage) this season. Goaltender Charlie Lindgren made 16 saves in his sixth shutout of the year, including second against Boston.

Strome, who tallied a career-high 42 assists in 2022-23, has reached the 40-assist mark for the second time in his career. Carlson, who has scored five goals in his last 13 games, has scored nine of his 10 goals this season at Capital One Arena. Carlson has reached the 10-goal mark for the eighth time in his 15-year career. In addition, Carlson’s 10 career goals vs. Boston are tied for the most he has scored against a single franchise (10 each vs. Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils). Wilson earned the secondary assist on Carlson’s goal, extending his point streak to three games (one goal, three points).
